Extracurricular

Extracurricular

At Bethany School, we believe that the best way for students to BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, and SUCCEED is through a well-rounded academic program along with a rich extracurricular program. Bethany School students enjoy a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including the following:

Field Trips: Each class will go on 3-4 field trips per year. Each field trip is directly connected to academic content being studied in the classroom.

Physical Education: Bethany School employs a full-time PE teacher for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. In addition to instruction in the rules and practice of various sports, students will participate in calisthenics, motor skills, Presidential Fitness Training, and much more.  Elementary school classes meet for PE twice per week, while middle school students dress for PE four days per week.

Music: Because we believe that it is an important part of the learning process, music is incorporated in many different areas of our programs. Middle school students have the opportunity to be a part of our Chapel Worship Team. All of our students take part in our annual holiday performances at Christmas and our Middle School Performance Night.

Art: Art allows your student to express their learning through tactile and visual experiences.  Middle School students learn from the Meet the Masters program, for formal art instruction five times per year. This program teaches students about classic and modern artists as well as their artwork. Students then return to the class to create their own masterpieces in a similar medium. Middle school also provides for a variety of arts through our elective classes, including fine arts, performing arts, technical arts, and our 8th grade "L.I.F.E. & Arts" class, consisting of media arts and life skills.

Sports: Bethany Athletes strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field, where they compete against other Christian Schools in our league. Sports include:

  • Boys Football
  • Girls Volleyball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Girls Basketball

Travel: In addition to classroom field trips, our upper grades culminate annual units of studies with a class trip. These trips give student the opportunity to see and experience what they have learned outside the bounds of a textbook and classroom setting.

  • 6th Grade – Catalina Science Camp (5 days) Marine Biology Studies with Long Beach Marine Institute
  • 7th Grade – Gleanings for the Hungry (5 days) Service Learning Trip to Central California with YWAM organization
  • 8th Grade – East Coast Tour ** (8 days) American History/Social Studies with American Christian Tours

Technology: Bethany Middle School students enjoy a 1:1 Chromebook access in each classroom.  Technology is an integrated learning tool that allows students to learn in new and exciting ways. Middle school students will use Google Classroom for regular in-class and at-home assignments. In addition, all students have access to the computer lab and iPads.  Teachers integrate technology into rich lesson plans, including research, videos, presentations, animation, and much more.
